Twitter, the four year old micro-blogging site is about to get a much needed face lift. The bare bones Twitter web page, where most people still tweet has been oft maligned as being too simple. The new web page layout which features a split-pane design will roll out over the next few weeks. Twitter users will be able to see the 140 character tweets on one side with related YouTube videos, Flickr images , and more on the other side. You will also be able to view user profiles with the need to open a new window as in the current design.
These changes will help make Twitter more attractive to advertisers as users will be able to stay on the Twitter site to view related multimedia items, instead of leaving the site as they do now. The changes should encourage users to stay on the twitter page longer.
